چکیده

Background Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia in elderly. The epsilon 4 allele apolipoprotein E gene that encodes major brain lipid carrier and metabolic disorders, such as obesity type 2 diabetes, were identified AD risk factors, suggesting abnormal metabolism could influence progression disease. Additionally, lowering cholesterol associated with reduced central nervous system (CNS) amyloid deposition increased dietary increases accumulation animal studies. Method 154 outpatients diagnosis conforming to criteria proposed by NINCDS-ADRDA (2011), followed-up at a public university hospital, had their levels assessed MMSE scores evaluated. Results 90 patients (58,44%) presented high (total level ≥ 190 mg/dL and/or LDL 130 mg/dL) 64 (41,56%) normal range < mg/d L mg/dL). From group, 10 (11,11%) severe cognitive impairment (MMSE 10), 50 (55,55%) moderate = – 20) 30 (33,34%) mild > 20). 5 (7,81%) impairment, 19 (29,69%) 40 (62,5%) impairment. Both groups, range, on average same educational level: 2,91 3,42 years, respectively. Conclusion In this sample AD, lower when compared range.

Background: A better understanding of how bone mineral density and vitamin D levels are associated with femoralneck and intertrochanteric hip fractures may help inform healthcare providers. We asked: 1) In patients age ≥ 55 years,is there a difference in quantitative ultrasound of the heel (QUS) t-score between patients with fractures of the femoralneck and those with fractures of the intertroc...

Lower Dietary Inflammatory Index Scores Are Associated with Lower Glycemic Index Scores among College Students

The association between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII®), the glycemic index (GI), and the glycemic load (GL) is not known, although it is known that carbohydrates are pro-inflammatory. We aimed to measure the association between the DII and both GI and GL among college students. In this cross-sectional study, 110 college students completed a 3-day food diary, which was used to calculate t...

BACKGROUND Conflicting results have been reported on the association of plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) and cholesterol levels in Alzheimer disease (AD). The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between cognitive performance and plasma levels of tHcy and its biological determinants folate and vitamin B(12), and lipids in clinically diagnosed AD patients. METHODS A cross-...
